HIV/AIDs: behaviour change in high risk populations
National Library for Public Health 1 to 7 December

The National Library for Public Health presents its first Sexual Health National Knowledge Week (NKW) on HIV/AIDs: behaviour change in high risk populations. This has been timed to coincide with World HIV/AIDS Day on 1 December. The NKW has been prepared in collaboration with the British HIV Association. The NKW contains an annual evidence update on resources on the topic area and expert articles. It provides a one stop shop for those seeking the most up to date evidence and useful information on reducing the transmission of HIV and interventions for behaviour change in high risk populations.

December 1st is World AIDS Day. Building on the huge success of last year's event marking the occasion in the North East, a number of organisations have come together to plan what we hope will be another exciting march and event to celebrate the day and challenge the stigma and discrimination suffered by the millions of people worldwide whose lives have been affected by HIV/AIDS.

Over the past nine months the Kicking Bad Habits programme has produced a series of discussion papers and hosted a number of seminars exploring both the theory and practice of behaviour change interventions.

The website has been updated with:

Discussion paper - Motivation and Confidence: what does it take to change behaviour, and seminar presentations

Strategies for identifying and targeting interventions.
Audio viewpoints from the fifth seminar and presentations.

This monthly bulletin covers national, regional and local (St Helens & Halton) news, events and other relevant information which relate to the six key areas of the 'Choosing Health' white paper, and some wider public health information.
