Senior Lecturer Health Promotion: University of Sunderland
My role in the CEHI steering group was initially to plan and deliver the participatory workshops at the CEHI launch in July 2004. Participatory appraisal is a research method that aims to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and experiences in order to make a contribution to strategic planning and problem solving. The process seeks to engage people who do not usually contribute to planning decisions.
Following on from the launch I have joined the steering group and have a higher education approach, meaning the application of theory to practice.
My research interests are community health, health promotion and the social construction of normative health. These interests contribute to a critical understanding of health improvement issues.
