Director of Public Health: Gateshead PCT
As DPH I have a central role in ensuring health improvement in Gateshead. The position I hold is unique in public service, in that I have a broad remit with few resources directly in my control. I therefore have to engage and develop all organisations who can improve the health of the people of Gateshead.
I lead a small team who specialise in this role, in developing and implementing strategies, and ensuring those with a role in public health have opportunities to improve their skills.
I am a member of many formal and informal groups within and beyond the PCT, including the PCT's Board. Through my membership of these, I ensure that local organisations remain focused on what can most benefit the health of local people.
