Consultation on the smokefree elements of the Health Improvement and Protection Bill

In the White Paper Choosing Health - Making healthy choices easier, there is a commitment to consult widely on the process of drawing up the detailed legislation on smokefree public places.

The key areas covered in this consultation document, where comments and responses would be particularly welcomed, are:

* the definition of enclosed public place/workplace
* the definition of prepare and serve food
* exemptions in general
* placing of signage
* the offences, penalties and defences
* enforcement; and
* timetable.
