Health Inequalities - Rising to the Challenge was published on 27 October 2005 by the Municipal Journal on behalf of the Department of Health inequalities unit, in partnership with the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and the Local Government Association.
It is designed to celebrate the work of local authorities, the NHS and other partners working together to tackle health inequalities. It also explains some of the new initiatives to emerge from the Choosing Health White Paper, and shows how improving public health should be seen as a core part of the public sector's - and particularly local government's - business.
(You can download the file here, or link to the publication from the Municipal Journal's web site at:

There is also a link from the Department of Health's Health Iequalities web site but at the moment there is an error on the pdf file)
This is of particular local interest as it details the work of the Beacon Council - Healthier Communities and includes information on Health trainers.
Can you signpost it to local staff in the council
