Staff from the Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA) are visiting Gateshead today to look at local Health Development intiatives. IDeA is a national body that works in partnership with all councils, to enhance the performance of the best, accelerate the speed of improvement of the rest, and develop the sector as a whole. Trevor Hopkins (pictured) who is now part of the IDeA team, will be among the group.
The party will visit Whickham Community Garden, a community group of Whickham residents who are restoring a piece of local history, a 19th century garden neglected for the last 60 years. The project has been enabled and supported by the Health Development team at Gateshead Council. It will then visit the City Learning Centre on the Metro Riverside Park to meet some of the staff that have been involved in developing CEHI, the Centre for Enabling Health Improvement, a weblog which aims to improve public health and reduce health inequalities, through sharing, supporting and developing good practice throughout the Gateshead community.
Everyone at CEHI would like to welcome the IDeA.
