Gateshead Community Census - Results Out Now

Baby bites, a wishing well garden, a breast feeding directory, a men’s health group – just a taster of over fifty community development activities revealed in the Gateshead 2006 community development census.

The census collates community development work undertaken in more than twenty different statutory and voluntary groups. How developed is your community?

Really interested to see the results from this census and an overview of the community development work in gateshead.
Looking forward to seeing the report.
Particulary interested to have more information on the work of the Healthy Communities Collaborative and the contribution from our partners for example the community health team within Gateshead Council.
I think we should include a summary of their work within the community development section

A lot of excellent and innovative initiatives going on out there. 2 suggestions to reduce duplication around the initiatives themselves and the process of data collection:
1. mapping/scoping exercise of activities-are there any initiatives that could be brought together across agencies/disciplines where they target the same populations
2. Currently staff are asked to log examples of service development/innovative practice with Clinical Audit team, Locality Matrons (Service Development proposals) and CEHI...We should think about how we can ensure that only one set of documentation is completed and is migrated across to all of the relevant databases/departments.

Im disappointed that the work i am involved in has not been included in the report as i did respond to the census. Im the health visitor for Deckham Children's Centre and I run a young & Proud Group, baby bites, Toddler Bites and i am involved in the Fit families all held at Deckham Children's Centre, the report does not show the hard work that is going on in Deckham and i hope this can be updated

Thanks for your recent comment. We're sorry for the disappointment, we'll look into it and get back to you....
