The Blaydon Healthy Communities Collaborative team organised a "Breakfast Challenge" event at the Blaydon Centre in November 2006 using the "Plan Do Study Act" or PDSA cycle. This event invited people to taste and compare a traditional fried breakfast with a healthy breakfast including grilled bacon and steamed mushrooms.

The Blaydon team completed a standard form, which acts as a step by step guide to the PDSA cycle. The form prompts the team:
- to think about what needs to be done and what could go wrong - the plan stage
- to record what happened - the do stage
- to reflect on what was achieved and ask if any lessons can be learned - the study stage
- to think about what could be done in the future - the act stage
