Sexual Health National Knowledge Week - December 2008

HIV/AIDs: behaviour change in high risk populations
National Library for Public Health 1 to 7 December

The National Library for Public Health presents its first Sexual Health National Knowledge Week (NKW) on HIV/AIDs: behaviour change in high risk populations. This has been timed to coincide with World HIV/AIDS Day on 1 December. The NKW has been prepared in collaboration with the British HIV Association. The NKW contains an annual evidence update on resources on the topic area and expert articles. It provides a one stop shop for those seeking the most up to date evidence and useful information on reducing the transmission of HIV and interventions for behaviour change in high risk populations.

The annual evidence update includes key documents published from January 2006 to October 2008. Two key documents were used as the starting point for identification of new evidence:

NICE Public health intervention guidance 3: NICE, 2007 [available at http://www.nice.org.uk/nicemedia/pdf/PHI003guidance.pdf ]

Downing J et al. HIV prevention: a review of reviews assessing the effectiveness of Interventions to reduce the risk of sexual transmission 2006 [available at http://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/index.jsp?action=download&o=38741 ]

A complimentary HIV/AIDs annual evidence update is available from the Infections Specialist Library focussing on virological methods, viral testing and promotion of HIV testing.

We welcome feedback about the resources included in this update - please contact us if you would like to comment.
