Library additions to stock (May-July 2007)

There is a listing here of new books recently added to stock at Gateshead and South Tyneside PCT libraries.
If you wish to borrow anything contact either library:

If you are a member of primary care staff but have not yet joined the library please contact us for information on how to register.

Making reservations online

Reserving books on the web catalogue

•To access the web catalogue go to: http://library.nuth.nhs.uk/
•Log In' using your library card barcode number and password (your surname in lower case)
•Search for the book you want using the Search menu on the left hand side of the page
•Enter details on the search screen and click on Search in the blue box
•When your results are displayed, click on 'Reserve a copy' at the bottom of the page
•On the next screen, click on 'Submit'
•Note the reference number given on the next screen and wait to be contacted by a member of Library staff
•Remember to 'Log Out' when you have finished

Renewing loans online

Using My Account and renewing your books:

•To access the web catalogue go to: http://library.nuth.nhs.uk/
•On left hand menu, under 'My Account', click on 'Log In'
•Enter the barcode number from the back of your library card and click Submit
•Enter password - this is your surname in lower case - and click Submit
•Your borrower record will be displayed, listing any books you have on loan and when they are due for return

Renewals

•Under the heading 'Items on loan to you' the titles of the items you have borrowed are listed
•Tick the 'select' box next to the title, for each item you wish to renew
•Click on 'Renew the items you have selected' at the bottom of the screen
•A fresh page will then display showing the new return date(s)
•Remember to 'Log Out' when you have finished

Joining HILS (Gateshead and South Tyneside PCTs)

To borrow books and/or use the library facilities you need to register with one of the libraries and obtain a library ticket.
Please read the rules and regulations carefully as these are what you sign up to!

You can download the user registration form here: complete and sign it and send it to either:

HILS (Health Information & Library Service)
Gateshead PCT
Team View, Fifth Avenue Business Park
Team Valley Trading Estate, Gateshead NE11 0NB

or:
HILS (Health Information & Library Service)
South Tyneside PCT
Clarendon, Windmill Way, Hebburn NE31 1AT

Your library ticket can be used at most NHS libraries in the Northumberland, Tyne and Wear area of the North East SHA.
You will need to produce it to borrow books.

The catalogue covers most NHS libraries in the Northumberland, Tyne and Wear SHA area and allows much easier access to a wide range of books and other materials..

If you are a registered member of one of the participating libraries you can borrow and reserve books at any site and also renew your loans online.

What is HILS?

HILS is the Health Information and Library Service for all staff working in the the Primary Care Trusts and throughout primary care in the Gateshead and South Tyneside areas, including staff in joint and partnership posts.
The service has bases at both Gateshead and South Tyneside PCTs.
